BGEA

Billy Graham Evangelistic Association

The BGEA was founded by Billy Graham in 1950, the BGEA’s purpose is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ by every effective means and to equip others to do the same.

Mel has been a member of the BGEA Board of Directors since 2001 and is a firm believer of the core beliefs that make up the BGEA foundation and which all of the ministry endeavors are based such as a few listed below:

  • The Bible is the infallible Word of God that it is His holy and inspired Word, and that it is of supreme and final authority.
  • In Holy Christian living, and that we must have concern for the hurts and social needs of our fellowmen.
  • We must dedicate ourselves anew to the service of our Lord and to His authority over our lives.
  • In using every modern means of communication available to us to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

Mel recently became the Chairman of the BGEA Executive Committee in addition to his role on the BGEA Board.

Mel was a part of the planning process for the BGEA Library and the Billy Graham’s childhood home which both opened in May 2007.

Mel and his wife Terri contributed to the decorating of the Home Place which they thoroughly enjoyed being a part of restoring and sharing the history of Mel’s grandparent’s home. If you visit the Billy Graham Library at Christmas time there is a good chance you will be greeted by Mel, he goes almost every night during the Christmas season to welcome the crowds of people that come to celebrate the Christmas season by visiting the live nativity scene, the Library and to take a carriage ride. Mel enjoys sharing the Gospel and his Uncle’s legacy with so many guests of the Library.
