Melvin Graham with Samaritan’s Purse
After sharing the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said “Go and do likewise”. That is the mission of Samaritan’s Purse—to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Samaritan’s Purse has many Ministry Projects including Operation Christmas Child, International Crisis Response, US Disaster Relief and Operation Heal our Patriots to name a few. Mel has traveled with his cousin Franklin Graham (CUZ as they call each other) to many third world destinations including; South Sudan, Iceland, Thailand, and the Philippines to spread the Gospel to those in areas where they may not have the opportunity to go to Church or hear the Salvation prayer.
Mel rarely takes a vacation from all his business ventures but he makes time to go on a Crusade or two a year with Cuz. This past November 2013 Mel traveled to Alaska, Japan, China, Thailand and then toured the destruction caused by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines before returning to Charlotte on Thanksgiving Day. Mel said after seeing the Philippines first hand we all have so much to be thankful for. Mel currently serves on the Samaritan’s Purse Board of Directors.
